Welcome to Pawsitive Parents ("we," "our," "us," or "the Portal"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and the security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our DED-registered mobile application and website (collectively, "the Services") in the United Arab Emirates.
By using the Pawsitive Parents Portal, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
1. Introduction & Who We Are
Pawsitive Parents is an AI-powered community and safety portal designed to create a 360-degree safety net for pets and pet parents in the UAE. Our mission includes facilitating instant lost-pet reunification through AI pattern matching and securing Digital Health Passports to ensure seamless care and legal compliance.
Data Controller: For the purposes of the UAE Data Protection Law, Pawsitive Parents Trading is the Data Controller.
2. What Information We Collect
To provide our full safety net and community services, we need to collect different types of information.
A. Information You Provide Directly:
- Account Information: When you register as a Pet Parent, Community Hero, or Service Provider, we collect your name, email address, phone number (mandatory for UAE verification), and a password.
- Pet Passport & Health Data: This includes your pet's name, photos (crucial for AI pattern matching), microchip number (mandatory for UAE registration), breed, age, sex, distinctive markings, neutering status, and Digital Health Passport data (vaccination and medical records). By uploading a pet's health records, you confirm you have the authority to share this information.
- Profile Data (Optional): We may collect your address or neighbourhood (for the "Safe Space" community mapping) and a profile picture.
- Service Provider Data: If you are a Service Provider (Vet, Groomer, Rescue), we collect business verification documents, license numbers, and service descriptions.
B. Information Collected Automatically:
- Location Data: To enable the "Lost Pet Emergency Alert," the "Foster-Finder Map," and community-based sightings, we may collect your device's precise geolocation when you are using the app. This is crucial for localizing rescue efforts and safety alerts.
- AI Pattern Matching Data: Our AI analyzes the distinct physical features (patterns, colors, markings) from the pet photos you upload to create a unique mathematical model ("Pet Print") for your animal. This data is used solely for the purpose of matching reported sightings to missing pets and does not identify you as a human.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Portal, including your search queries, connection requests, and app performance logs (e.g., crash reports).
3. How We Use Your Information
We process your data primarily to protect your pet and foster accountability. We use your information to:
- Activate the AI-Powered Safety Net: Use your pet's photos and AI "pet print" data to instantly match your pet to sightings reported by the community.
- Verify & Secure Pet Records: Create and maintain the Digital Health Passport, ensuring medical and microchip records are accurate, secure, and easily shareable (at your discretion) with verified Vets or Groomers.
- Facilitate Community Mobilization: Localized lost-pet alerts, populate the "Foster-Finder" map to connect pets in need with Verified Community Heroes, and populate the "Safe Space" map with user-marked Safe Zones or hazard areas.
- Communicate & Connect: Enable direct, secure messaging between Pet Parents and Verified Community Heroes or Service Providers. Send critical notifications (e.g., vaccination reminders, local safety alerts, lost pet updates).
- Ensure Legal Compliance: Document ownership, microchip data, and mandatory vaccination status in line with UAE Federal Animal Welfare Laws.

Under UAE Data Protection Law, we process your personal data based on:
- Your Explicit Consent: When you sign up and explicitly agree to this policy.
- Contractual Necessity: To provide the core services of the Portal (like the Lost Pet Alert and Digital Passport).
- Our Legitimate Interests: (where not overridden by your rights) such as improving the Portal's security and AI accuracy.
- Vital Interests: In emergency situations where a pet's safety is at immediate risk.
5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the following circumstances:
- With Your Consent — To Community Heroes: Your location and a limited pet profile are shared if you trigger a "Lost Pet Emergency Alert."
- With Your Consent — To Service Providers: Your pet's Digital Health Passport is shared only when you authorize access (e.g., before a vet visit or grooming appointment).
- With Our Service Providers (Processors): Trusted UAE-based partners who help us with secure cloud storage, AI maintenance, and notification systems. They are bound by strict data confidentiality agreements.
- For Foster/Adoption: If you engage with a rescue group through the Portal, your verified profile and willingness to foster/adopt are shared to facilitate the matching process.
- For Legal/Safety Reasons: If required by UAE authorities (e.g., to confirm microchip ownership in an abandonment investigation), to enforce our Terms, or to protect the safety of a pet or user.
6. Data Security & Storage
Your data is sacred. We use advanced, encrypted, and monitored systems to protect your personal information. Pawsitive Parents Portal data is stored securely on servers located within the United Arab Emirates, in compliance with data localization requirements.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data and pet records as long as your account is active to provide you with a lifetime safety net. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within 60 days, unless we are legally required to retain it (e.g., microchip ownership history). AI pattern data is permanently linked to the pet's profile.
8. Your Rights Under UAE Law
As a data subject in the UAE, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request the rectification of inaccurate personal or pet data.
- Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Request the deletion of your data (subject to legal and regulatory exceptions).
- Restriction: Request that we restrict the processing of your data.
- Object: Object to the processing of your data (e.g., for marketing purposes).
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent for any processing that is based on consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through the Contact Us page.
9. International Data Transfer
Pawsitive Parents primarily stores and processes data within the UAE. In limited cases (e.g., using a non-UAE specialist AI tool), data may be securely transferred, provided the destination country ensures an adequate level of data protection.
